Hurricane Animal Hospital is seeking a dependable, energetic, and self-motivated animal lover with experience in animal care, animal handling, and customer service.  Our veterinary technicians must possess a broad knowledge of medicine and animal science, as well as strong mathematical skills.  We provide medical care to dogs and cats, as well as most reptiles and small mammals.  Our hospital continues to grow, and we are looking to expand our hours by providing evening and weekend shifts.  

Veterinary technicians must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete laboratory tests, deliver compassionate nursing care, and keep owners and doctors updated on their status. Services provided can include medication delivery, laser therapy, IV catheterization and fluid therapy, filling prescriptions, and animal restraint in a fear-free and low-stress approved manner.  Other veterinary assisting requirements will include walking dogs, some pet grooming, nail trimming, and implanting microchips. We provide client education regarding preventive medicine, microchipping, heartworm testing, parasite prevention, weight loss, and the importance of dental care.  In addition, we all are needed to keep our facilities and patients clean and to maintain a good smelling environment.

• Ensure the BAAC Veterinary Clinic maintains all required facility licenses and complies with the West Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine regulations and related laws
• Provide veterinary care and help implement standard medical protocols
• Manage the storage, handling, and use of controlled substances in accordance with state and federal law
• Ensure compliance with all regulations governing medical waste disposal and recordkeeping
• Perform surgeries and oversee post-operative care in line with accepted veterinary standards
• Refer animals to specialists when appropriate or at BAAC management’s request
• Examine animals for adoption and discuss medical concerns with staff, management, and adopters as needed
