Mentor Program

Thank you for your interest in the Mentor Program! Please read below for instructions on how to participate/register. Thank you for your understanding and patience as the VVMA and VM-CVM teams work hard to make this a smooth and rewarding experience for all!

Step 1: If this is your first year participating in the Mentor Program, please complete Step 1 below. This allows us to add you to our mentor program database and assign you to a cohort of mentors and mentees. If you were part of the Mentor Program last year, please skip to step 2.

Step 2: Register with VVMA to attend the October 3-4 events at VM-CVM!

Step 3: Register with VM-CVM to attend the October 3-5 Mentor Program and/or Connect 2024 events.

2024 Program Schedule
Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine

Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 (held in the Commons):

Welcome Dinner | 5:30-8:00pm

This is a casual gathering with refreshments and buffet style dinner for mentees and mentors. Before dinner, mentors will go around the room and introduce themselves. This is a great opportunity to catch up with (or meet for the first time) mentees and/or mentors in your cohort. After dinner, join the Virginia and Maryland VMAs for some fun at a local hot spot. More details to come!

Social Event with MDVMA @ Bull & Bones | 8:00pm

After the welcome dinner, join the MDVMA for drinks at Bull & Bones Brewhaus! All are welcome to attend!

Friday, October 4th, 2024 (held in the Commons):

Breakfast | 8:30-9:30am

Meet & Greet and Table Swapping | 9:00am-11:00am
Join us in the Commons and Waterfall room where a handful of mentors will be assigned to each table (each table will have a sign with mentors' name and practice type). Mentors are usually grouped together by their specialty/area of practice (Small Animal, Public/Corporate, etc). Students may visit any/all tables to talk to several mentors, even those outside of their assigned cohort. After about 20 minutes, we make an announcement to "swap" tables.

Breakout sessions with Mentor/Mentee Q&A | 11:00am-Noon
Everyone will split up into three groups; students will be organized by class year and mentors will be dispersed evenly among the groups for small group discussions and Q&A with mentors. Around 11:55am, gifts will be raffled off for students in each group. Prizes normally include gift cards and products donated by industry members!
